I just got my Natural Sunscreen SPF 50+ 200ml and I'm so happy with it! I used it for a full day of surfing and not only did it stay on, but my skin felt great afterward. Yeah, I've used it for a couple of 50k trail runs. It's solid. Seriously, it doesn't run into your eyes even when you're dripping sweat. Reapplied once after about 4 hours just to be safe, but it felt like it was still doing its job.

how's this compared to like, Sun Bum? Sun Bum is okay but I'm looking for something more for serious outdoor stuff.

Himaya is definitely a step up for 'serious' outdoor. Sun Bum is fine for the beach, but Himaya is designed for proper endurance activities. It just sticks better and feels more protective when you're really pushing it.

I switched from Sun Bum to Himaya for surfing. No comparison. Himaya actually stays on and doesn't get all watery when you're in the waves for hours. Plus, it's reef safe which is a big deal for me.

i have an spf 50 tube from last summer, is it still good to use this year? not sure about shelf life for natural sunscreens.

Most sunscreens have an expiration date printed on them, usually on the crimp of the tube or bottom. If it's sealed and stored in a cool place, it's probably fine, but always check the date.

I think the general rule for natural stuff is around 2 years after opening or the expiry date, whichever comes first. If it smells weird or the texture changed, toss it.

Are these guys actually reef safe? Some brands say they are but then you read the ingredients and it's iffy.

From what I understand, yes, they use non-nano zinc oxide which is generally considered reef safe. No oxybenzone or octinoxate, which are the main bad guys.

They're one of the few brands I trust for reef safety. It's all mineral-based and they talk a lot about being eco-friendly, so I'd be surprised if they weren't legit.

I'd say yes, my daughter has eczema and it's one of the few sunscreens that doesn't irritate her. Definitely worth trying if other stuff bothers you.
